The bystander effect is the tendency for people to be less likely to help a victim when other people are present.
Why does a crowd help less?
Diffusion of responsibility: as the number of bystanders grows, each person’s felt obligation to act gets diluted across the group.

In a crowd of students, no one called 911 when someone got hurt in a fight
