I remember every YouTuber I watched back in the day used elgato. Now, I kind of actually understand what is going on (if I’m not wrong).

It basically intercepts the hdmi, and records that HDMI signal directly, instead of having the PS4 or whatever eat up compute like when you run a screen recording software like OBS.
