Frame Anlysis

Frame:

  • “ a way in which experience is organized conceptually”
  • “Movements’ goals have to make sense to people” in order to get them to join

3 Kinds of Frames:

  • Diagnostic Framing: problem is black or white (no grey, or middle ground)
  • Prognostic Framing: “offers a solution”
  • Motivational Framing: “call to action”

Frame Alignment: several groups share goals and join together (ex. Social justice)

  • Bridging
  • Amplification
  • Extension
  • Transformation
