Halo Effect

The halo effect is the tendency for an impression in one area (a person, brand, product) to spill over and color opinions in unrelated areas.

Why does one trait color the rest?

Forming a holistic gestalt is cheaper than evaluating each attribute independently, so one strong signal anchors the rest.
