Legal System
I have some lawyer friends, but I also took interest after reading the book Just Mercy.
There are 4 Main systems:
- Common Law
- Civil Law
- Statutory Law
- Religious Law
Common Law
This is the most common type of law, practiced in Canada (excluding Quebec) and US.
A jury trial is a lawful proceeding in which a jury makes a decision or findings of fact. It is distinguished from a bench trial in which a judge or panel of judges makes all decisions.
Civil Law
Practiced in the Quebec and France.
