The method of composite parts to calculate the resultant and its location for a distributed force along a straight line:

- Break distributed force into standard shapes
- Use a reference to identify the location of the centroid for each of the standard shapes

- Add up the forces
- To find the location of the forces, develop the composite centroid-sum moment:
