Smooth SLAM
Smooth SLAM is super important in a VR headset application. How is this achieved?
Because every time the backend does bundle adjustment, there is going to be huge jumps.
To achieve smooth animations in VR headsets, smoothing techniques like pose interpolation, sensor fusion with IMU data, predictive tracking, and asynchronous processing are used. These methods mitigate the jumpiness of SLAM, especially during loop closures and backend optimizations.
