Understeer and Oversteer

Abstract

• Oversteer $\to$ car turns too much, back tires are losing their grip
• Understeer $\to$ car cannot turn, front tires are losing their grip

In more technical terms:

• Oversteer is when the Slip Angle of the rear tyres is greater than that of the front tyres during a corner
• Understeer is when the Slip Angle of the front tyres is greater than that of the front tyres during a corner
