Architectural Erosion

Learned in SE464.

Architectural erosion is the introduction of architectural design decisions into a system’s descriptive architecture that violate its prescriptive architecture.

Erosion is the more serious form of architectural degradation; unlike drift, erosion actively breaks the intended architecture. Left alone, erosion forces eventual architectural recovery.
