Behaviour
Finally, I get to learn and better understand human behaviour through PSYCH101. I’ve studied Collective Behaviour before through Sociology.
See Behaviorism for a higher level overview.
“To fully understand behaviour, you must be able to answer each of four different types of questions.” (Tinbergen, 1963):
- Proximate (Mechanism): How does the behaviour work?
- Ontological (Development): How does the behaviour change across the lifespan?
- Ultimate (Function): What does the behaviour do?
- Phylogenetic (Evolution): How did the behaviour change across generations?
Some Examples
Explain why we wear watches?
Explain why men engage in more casual sex than women?
