Burden of Proof Fallacy
The burden of proof fallacy makes a claim that needs justification, then demands the opponent justify the opposite.
Why can't the skeptic disprove it?
Whoever asserts a claim owes the evidence. Absence of disproof is not proof, so flipping the burden lets a baseless claim stand by default.
Example
“Aliens built the pyramids. Prove me wrong”
Redressing the Fallacy
If your interlocutor makes a claim and demands you “change their mind,” politely decline and invite them to explain why their claim is worth believing. There is a good chance they are arguing in bad faith if they make a claim and then insist you have the burden of proof.
