Error Detection and Correction (EDAC)

Error detection and correction (EDAC) or error control are techniques that enable reliable delivery of digital data over unreliable communication channels.

There are many error detection schemes:

• Error Correction Code
• Checksum
• Cyclic Redundancy Check

Before we dive into HARQ, we need to understand Error Detection and Correction.

There are three Major types of Error Correction:

• Automatic Repeat Request
• Forward Error Correction
• HARQ
