Fits and Tolerances
Fits and Tolerances: How to Design Stuff that Fits Together by Tarkka
Thoughts: Very machinist perspective heavy and not useful to me right now.
Sometimes, we want pieces to easily slide, while other times, have an exact fit. There is a systematic way to do this, its called first and tolerances.
Different manufacturing techniques have different tolerances. Tighter tolerances = more expensive to manufacture
Fits
- Running fit
- Clearance fit
- Press fit
Look up LC11, and see the size we want to make. We see those tolerances. LC9, LC7, etc..
