Memory store with very large capacity and, in principle, unlimited duration.
What distinguishes LTM from STM?
Encoding by meaning (rather than sound or surface) is one of the big contrasts with short-term memory
Tulving split it into:
- Episodic Memory: personal events and experiences
- Semantic Memory: facts and world knowledge
The explicit vs implicit split cuts across this.
