Peroxisome
• Bounded by one membrane • Contain enzymes that remove H atoms and transfer them to oxygen – Makes hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) • Functions of peroxisomes – Use oxygen to break down fatty acids – Liver: detoxify alcohol and poisons • Peroxisomes contain enzymes to convert peroxide to water
Cytoskeleton • Network of fibres that extending throughout the cytoplasm • Bacterial cells have a type of cytoskeleton too – We will look at the eukaryotic cytoskeleton
