Twisted Pair
Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring used for communications in which two conductors of a single circuit are twisted together for the purposes of improving electromagnetic compatibility (reduce EMI).

Why?
The wires are twisted together to reduce the electrical interference from similar pairs close by, and eliminate the noise. The exact process is detailed in Differential Signaling.
