Visual Agnosia
Visual agnosia is an umbrella term for impaired visual recognition despite intact sensory vision.
Two flavours
- Apperceptive agnosia: trouble forming a clear perceptual representation; can’t assemble the percept
- Associative agnosia: can copy or match objects (percept is there) but can’t link to meaning
Related
- Prosopagnosia: impaired face recognition specifically
- Capgras Syndrome: recognition intact but the emotional signal is gone
