Illusory correlation is believing two things are related when they aren’t, or much more strongly than they are.
Full moons
Someone believes full moons cause strange behaviour because a few memorable weird events coincided with full moons, while every normal full moon and weird non-full-moon night is forgotten.
Memorable coincidences get encoded; counterexamples are invisible.
