This is so weird, when I load their configuration file, it’s perfect. But then, when I try to tune it myself, it just utterly breaks…

Umm actually, it doesn’t do well. No torque.

I finally figured it out… it was a loose connection between the pinion gear and the spur gear. It was thanks to this reddit post .

So the secret to getting a good motor spin is to just use the VESC configurator:

I watched the above video, and followed their steps, entering the right values, and the RC car drives like butter.
