A network extended over hundreds of kilometers that can span a continent.

Think the internet.

Wide area networks cross continents and are the backbone of the Internet, which supports the web. They are typically based on optical fibers and are leased from telecommunication companies.

  • #idontunderstand who powers the internet? There are server’s, but then how are those domains owned? I will find out in ECE358
